GarageTek was launched in the UK in December 2005 and has successfully installed garages throughout the Home Counties. Alastair Broom, the Managing Director of GarageTek in the UK felt there was enormous opportunity to offer a service that gives a storage solution to homeowners.

Having seen hundreds of garages in recent months Alastair Broom thought it was sensible to follow the lead of the US and hold a Garage Safety Week to bring to the attention of as many homeowners as possible the many dangers that are in the garage. Over 2.5 million accidents occur in the home every year and many of these start in the garage. A few simple guidelines will help to reduce this number.

The business sees garage hazards on a daily basis. "It's common for our people to see steel racks hanging by a nail, overloaded wobbly shelves and all kinds of chemicals improperly stored," says Alastair Broom "At GarageTek we believe a clean garage is a safe garage. As the leader in professionally designed garage organisation systems, we feel that homeowners should be alerted to this important information."

National Garage Safety Week was held between May 14th and May 20th in 2007. During the week the showroom near Henley was open and featured ideas for a safer garage.
